Our singing bowls are
unlike others in that they date from 70 to hundreds of years
old. They are the real thing, made in Tibet prior to
1950. Many bowls were lost during the unrest of the years that
followed consequently these items are a limited resource and there
will come a day in the not too distant future when they are
unavailable. There are hundreds of new singing bowls on the
market but our bowls are distinct and unique offering the buyer not
only a fantastic meditative device but a true piece of art
and history.

on Tibetan Singing Bowl

The Singing Bowl is a type of bell that is shaped like a bowl. They
come in many shapes and sizes and have been made for several
centuries.

According to the Tibetan oral tradition, the existance of singing
bowls date back to 560 - 480 B.C. , the tradition was brought back
from India to Tibet, along with the teachings of Buddha by some
great "Tantric" masters in the Tibetan region.

They are made of bronze which is an alloy of Copper, Tin and other
metals which may also include Lead, Iron, Gold, Silver, Nickel, Zinc
and others.

A metallurgical analysis done by the British museum in London
reveals that these instruments are made of 12 metal alloys
consisting of silver, nickel, copper, zinc, antimony, tin , lead,
cobalt, bismuth, arsenic, cadmium and Iron. Some sources say that
the bowls are made from seven sacred metals, corresponding to the
sacred seven planets. Gold ( Sun), silver ( Moon), mercury
(Mercury), copper ( Venus), iron ( Mars), tin ( Jupiter), antimony (
Saturn). Legends go on to say that iron was some times replaced by
the meteorite found on the Himalayan mountaintops, metals from
heaven.

Singing bowls were traditionally made in the Himalayan region of
Nepal, India, & Tibet. Now a days these marvellous sprituals
rare antiques from these regions and being exported world
wide.

When singing bowls are played with a wooden mallet they a produce
rich blend of harmonic overtones & these overtones have a direct
effect on the "Chakra"s, that awaken a beautiful and powerful
mystery. They produce the sacred sound of "AUM".
